We are a non-profit 501(c)(3) registered organization by founder
Lyssa Howells, dedicated to rescuing our furry friends wherever weare needed and finding them a safe forever home.
With 27 years of experience with animals, she’s the real life Dr Doolittle. Her specialty is dogs (at least while she’s in a big city) and puts any dog whisperer to shame. Her day job includes dog training and grooming, and now with her Rescue set up, she doing what she can to rescue & home dogs in need.
At a very young age Lyssa was lucky enough to have insight as to what she really loved in life — anything that had to do with animals and especially training dogs, which she’s done since 1994.
She finds using mostly positive reinforcement works to get the best results with dogs, and they tend to really enjoy their training this way.
Her job is to get you and your dog to speak the same language, thus she finds herself being more of a translator than a trainer to give owner and dog the communication techniques to transform you and your dog into a better team.
She trains all ages and breeds, has flexible service hours, consistent support, and complete transparency when it comes to her unique dog training methods.
Previous partners have been: The Freehold, Bark Eats, Tito's Vodka, Ilegal Mezcal, Maker's Mark
So far, we have been able to transport groups of dogs at a time to New York and also quickly rescue unclaimed dogs from shelters thanks to our partnering sanctuaries and support of our sponsors. Furthermore, we have been able to host adoption and fundraising events that not only help raise funds to carry out ourmission, but aim to raise awareness, create acommunity that cares for our fur families and make the city more dog friendly.
ADOPTION
Howls Rescue is committed to bringing the right pup together with their human. That's why we ask a lot of questions in our questionnaire and really get to know our potential pup parents in order to make sure it's a perfect match.
FOSTERING
We are always in need of people who can foster. The more approved fosters we have, the more dogs we can rescue
Please fill out this form to be pre-approved as a potential foster or adoption parent prior to events
Whether your pet needs a quick nail trim, Bath & Brush or a Full Service Groom, you'll find it here!
In-home grooming with over 17 years experience. Caring for your pet as if it were our own.
In general, most rescue and shelter organizations don't receive government funding, and adoption fees are basically a pay-it-forward fund that only covers the cost of caring for the animal during their time at the shelter or foster home (transporting of our four legged friends aren’t even included!). Therefore raising funds and receiving donations for animal rescues and shelters are critical in achieving our mission and comes primarily in the form of donations.
WHAT WILL YOUR $$ GO TOWARDS?
The amount of funding a rescue organization receives directly impacts the number of animals they can rescue and care for.
Your support and contributions will enable us to continue our mission to help as many animals as we can.
